8 Easy Steps to Proper Tote Return

As we all know, being a successful mulch producer means operating efficiently and cost-consciously. One easy way to ensure greater levels of profitability is to thoroughly clean totes before returning them. This eliminates handling costs and fees that could come from non-pickups or the need for disposal. Here are 8 easy steps to properly returning totes.

1. Open the tote by unscrewing the top cap.

2. Mix the material well, using an Amerimulch tote mixer or other tool.

3. While mixing, pay special attention to the corners. Proper mixing ensures an even distribution of pigments and additives throughout.

4. Connect the hose to the valve spout. Open the valve. You are now ready to start coloring mulch.

5. When the tote is nearly empty, insert a block of wood under one end, to force all the material to the spout end. Change to a new full tote before current tote runs empty.

6. Drain any remaining color into a pail or into the next tote.

7. Use a hose to rinse out any remaining color from the tote. Put the colored rinse water back into the coloring process.

8. Recap the tote, bottom and top, and store it somewhere reasonably clean and safe until at least twelve are ready to return.

Arrange for pickup of empty totes by going online to returnnetsystem.com. There you can complete an email activation form, or obtain and fax an activation for pick-up.
