A Fix for Spring Wash - Introducing the Heartland Mulch Aid Spray System

By: Jennifer McCann, Marketing Coordinator

It happens every spring - many of you have experienced it – the dreaded “spring wash.” A freshly colored mulch pile is still wet, it rains heavily and the colorant is washed off the surface of the pile. If a delivery is made and the mulch is spread when it is still damp, this can also occur. While we recommend that you not color if rain is expected and that you limit deliveries in the same situation, you can’t always control Mother Nature!

Staying Safe - Equipment Safety Labeling

By: Bill Flynn, Equipment Project Coordinator

The safety and well-being of workers is crucial for the productive operation of any business. The safety labels which protect those workers are essential because they are the first alert that there may be a potentially hazardous situation. They are a reminder that can prevent an accident. Changes in the Market

It is difficult to pick up a trade journal these days and not read more than one article competing for one of our industry’s most valuable resources, wood fiber. From new pellet fuel plants to lumber mills shutting down to land clearing coming to a hault, all the news is not good. It makes you wonder what our industry will look like ten years from today.

Geohumus

Almost two years after the fact, more than 22 states around the US have declared a “drought”, and a total of 36 anticipate severe water shortages by 2013*. Whenever drought conditions surface, the combination of environmental effect, coupled with a lack of awareness and inaction by public regulators, almost always converge to fail the consumer. In this industry “consumers” are large commercial and private property owners and they are always the last ones to be notified they can’t flush, shower or water their lawns.

Tinsley Steparator

The Steparator™ is a unique screening machine that features a patented, stepped deck, which results in a very high open area per unit of surface area. The machine substantially increases through-put without the risk of blinding or plugging. Oversize material is oriented in direction of flow and rejected, thus improving uniformity of accepted product size.

A Simple System Just Got a Whole Lot Better

The simplicity of operating our ColorTrom created a great deal of interest when it was introduced to the mulch industry. By simplicity we mean no paddles or shafts to jam, no liners to replace on the bellies of the systems that wear out and no mixing arms to replace. It is as simple as keeping a drum spinning.

New AMP Roller Design

There has been a design change in the older style AMP series rollers. The older AMP series roller shafts and rollers were steel and had brass bushings in the steel rollers.

The new AMP series roller shafts are stainless steel and the rollers are Delrin (a lightweight but durable low-wear, low-friction plastic). The Delrin rollers contain sealed ball bearings. This new design is very corrosion resistant and has better wear properties.
